I have been totally spoiled when it comes to working with web designers on big projects.
In the recent past I have worked with Jeffrey Zeldman and Doug Bowman. Right now I work with Mike Propst (nonsensor, my Elongated Man) and Andy Fraley, the editor of design in-flight and a former art director from my Venture Reporter days. These two guys are hard-working and brilliant.
I'm looking for some more designers who can join our team and help us keep up with our upcoming two or three blogs per week launch schedule. I'm looking for designers who make not just great logos, but entire sites and are able to carve up solid XHTML into pieces and learn their way around Blogsmith.
More specifically, I need:
- Experts at XHTML/CSS, who care about validation and making tight code
- Photoshop and Illustrator skills
- People who are able to deal with customers who have mockups or working HTML and get them running in Blogsmith
- People who understand blogging
- JavaScript knowledge is a plus
- Some PHP skill is optional, but a plus
Does this sound like you?
Does this sound like someone you know?
Does it sound like someone you'd really really like to know?
Yeah, same here.
UPDATE: These are full-time, work from home design positions in two of the divisions I run. As great as many non-U.S. web designers are, I'm not sure I could survive the process of trying to hire someone from out of the country. So if you're only looking for part-time work or you are more than 3 time zones away from NYC, I probably won't be able to bring you on board.

Would being 15 (and therefore unable to work during days) be a roadblock to getting this position?
Hehe, hope you get someone good.

Out of curiosity, will these 2-3 blogs per week be for the Weblogs, Inc. network or simply client blogs or both?

By "customers" I just mean anyone using Blogsmith. It's a mix -- Weblogs, AOL and beyond.

I highly recommend Kim Buchheit. She's awesome to work with. Did Mary Lou Quinlan's (american inventor fame) website.

If someone is underage, but is available from 10am-10pm (EST) okay? I doubt it, but freelance work is kind of dull. Anyway, I would recommend some friends located at http://www.ignition13.com and also my buddy over at http://www.cubancouncil.com
Neither of them will dissapoint, and they're in the tri-state region.

How come the "powered by blogsmith" button isn't a live link?
heh ... that's what I do best. Ohhh I know, it seems silly, but when an eye for detail is coupled with the concentration required to read hundreds of pages of technical documents backwards (a trick to make sure you don't get sucked in by narrative flow) well you have a combination that makes engineers shudder. (As well they should.)

Although, I do not yet know my way around Blogsmith, I design and setup CSS/XHTML (in addition to logo and print work). I am a bit familiar with MT, TextPattern, and WordPress, but lately, my focus has been on Drupal (although learning new things is always a plus). Let me know if you are interested in talking further or if you have found the designers you need already.

I can help you find a designer for you and your team.
She is a hard worker from Bulgaria and is doing wonderful designs.
As far as I know she has completed more than 40 website designs. Sorry, but I just can't remember her website. You can contact me if you are interested.

I'm in NYC, have designed for years for major companies, (Conde Nast, Time Warner, etc.) and small clients and would LOVE to do this. Please get in touch! Thanks.

The point is what type of designing the job is about; since designing informative websites is not like designing commercial ones, due to theory that claims that ugly websites are making all profits!

I supposed that you already got some one good for this position.
I run a web development company in China. I have nothing but plenty of developers. If you need any position again, please remember me.
