Brian Alvey: The Best of TBAW: January 2004

As writers strike continues, The Brian Alvey Weblog (TBAW) is going into rerun mode.

Although I had been blogging on my Blogstakes and Meet The Makers sites in 2002 and 2003, TBAW didn't start until January 16, 2004. Back then it was at http://alvey.weblogsinc.com/ but it was still called TBAW.

My first post, Beware of the Blog, talked about a blog I'd seen which was never updated after the first post and about building my ultimate CMS, which would later be named Blogsmith. These days my ultimate CMS is called Crowd Fusion, but my blog continues to be hosted in Blogsmith. The title was a reference to that old 50's song called Beware of the Blob. "It creeps and leaps and glides and slides..."

A couple of days later, Man, I feel like a woman started out reviewing a Chevy commercial and ended up talking about really embarrassing lyrics that you can't help but sing along with.

It's not you. It's me was a slightly cryptic ode to a new WYSIWYG editor we were switching to in Blogsmith. I think the original one we had was Java-based and we switched at least one more time a year later. It had a bunch of lines quoted from a great Everclear song called Unemployed Boyfriend.

Starting a long tradition of serious-sounding but completely non-serious posts which make me giggle and make other people think I am a clueless freak, I told the world that Weblogs, Inc. would be launching The Friends Weblog to cover the hit NBC show. Of course the whole world, including me, knew that the series was ending and had filmed its last episode. As an added bonus I threw in a reference to running a banner ad campaign for it on Mr. Showbiz. As one of my commenters quickly pointed out, Mr. Showbiz had already been shut down for years.

Finally, the month ended with the post-modern masterpiece: This Entry Intentionally Left Blank.

First, thank you for the initial publication date disclosure right off the bat. I feel better knowing ahead of time that I'm commenting on a nearly-new blog.
I'm impressed with your self-knowledge. I haven't thought you to be a clueless freak; I just keep looking around for the inside joke you're having with yourself.
