If you live on the east coast, have TiVo and recorded the two-hour season premiere of 24 tonight, odds are you got screwed out of the last 15 minutes of the show since Fox's football coverage ran 15 minutes over and TiVo doesn't record extra unless you tell it to in advance.
So I called DirecTV, since we have a combination DirecTV/TiVo receiver and told them I wanted to order the west coast feed of Fox for the night. Clever, right? Well, they refuse to sell a channel for other time zones in a time zone that already gets that channel. But what if their TiVo missed the last fifteen minutes of a season premiere? The customer service rep explained that this was not the first call he had received on this subject and that shows are usually repeated later in the season.
Unacceptable.
I know that tv schedules are packed and that airing the missing 15 minutes for all of the people who missed it tonight is not likely to happen before tomorrow night's next two hours of the show, but someone needs to put this on the Internet: Fox, TiVo, DirecTV, iFilms, someone.
Telling me to wait a few months and catch the show in reruns is moronic.

I don't think there'll be a repeat on FOX anytime soon, considering they're showing a new episode every week with no interruptions.

Well, my Tivo missed the whole thing? since other shows had crept up in the priority list. Since after last season I swore not to watch the show again, I can't really complain...but still, if anyone knows of a bittorrent somewhere...

I just wanted to tell you that I never caught the last few minutes of 24 tonight. But my father inlaw did. I will ask him and get back to you soon with it though. Most likely to9morrow some time.

People need to blame someone else besides the TV network for this one. Live sports are unfortunately unscripted, and sometimes run late. Did you expect them to cut away from an NFL playoff game that is coming down to the wire in the 4th quarter just so 24 starts exactly on time? If 24 is that important to you, you should have known that it was on following a playoff game and extend your recording by a half hour or so. That's what I did...

Hah. No one expects Fox to kill the last 15 minutes of a playoff game -- or the post game wrap-up, really -- to start 24 on time for TiVo people.
We constantly smarten up our TiVo schedule, telling it to record anywhere from an extra 30 minutes to 2 additional hours of a baseball, football or basketball game. If I miss the end of an extra innings Yankees game, I put the blame on me.
For 24, we got the season pass and didn't bother looking at what was on before each episode.
Our older TiVo misses entire shows all the time because it botches the channel change. Our newer one -- still not a series 2 -- at least has the DirecTV tuner built in, so it always gets the channel right.
We ended up watching the bit torrent this morning so we'd be up to speed tonight.
Fox should be happy that people put that show on bit torrent. Now we're as excited about watching tonight's show as we were about yesterday's.
