It's electric

June 13, 2006 @ 9:39am

We were about to leave for dinner with some friends in CT and I was talking to our ad sales team about some reporting and the power went out. My laptop of course stayed on, but every other server here turned off. I went upstairs to joke with Niki that she didn't need to turn off the circuit breakers to get me to stop working, but when I opened the basement door, Jack was sitting on the sofa with Grandma Jackie watching TV. Not what I was expecting.

So I checked out the basement fuses and they were all on. I checked out the two panels in the garage and they were all on. I finally tracked it down to a pair of sub-panel fuses on the main panel that were not switched OFF, just no longer fully ON. Tricky.

So if I suddenly disappear off of IM in the afternoon when all of the air conditioners in the neighborhood kick in and the spike comes down the power line and knocks us out, just know that it's not you, it's me. But if I hang up on your during a cell phone call, it was probably you.
