See you later, navigator

June 22, 2006 @ 6:22am

Alex, my lead developer on Netscape, reminded me of the real original reason I needed something like the navigator frame: I hated not being able to vote on something while reading it.

Most voting sites have a big giant vote button next to the headline, but after you go off and read the story you have to hit your back button to vote or if you surfed around a little you have to hunt down the original story to add a vote. Otherwise you're voting on a story before you read it, which means you're just voting on a headline.

Is a vote on a headline really worth anything?

I'd rather see votes that are cast after someone reads the story. One more good reason to have the navigator frame and I'm still open to suggestions on how we can do it better.
