To me, the giant battle scenes between hundreds of mutants made it tough to connect to any one character.
Kelsey Grammar's Beast was a highlight in both the combat and non-combat scenes. That was unexpected. Only Frasier could deliver Hank McCoy's trademark line "Oh my stars and garters" believably.
I was talking to my favorite blog designer last week and I mentioned that my favorite comic book superhero movies are the first two X-Men and Spider-Man films. He doesn't like Tobey Maguire, so it makes loving the Spider-Man films impossible for him. I told him that I didn't hate Daredevil, but I was hard-pressed to come up with a worse comic book superhero movie. Then I remembered The Hulk.
Here are my rankings:
- Spider-Man II
- X-Men II
- Spider-Man
- X-Men
- Batman
- Superman II
- Superman
- Batman Begins
- Superman Returns
- X-Men III
- Fantastic Four
- Batman Returns
- Daredevil
- Batman Forever
- Batman & Robin
- Superman III
- Superman IV
- The Hulk
Most likely if I left one off it was because I haven't seen it (like Hellboy, The Punisher and Elektra) or didn't consider them superheroes (Flash Gordon and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

Sin City could be considered a Super Hero Movie... That would for sure make my top 10..
Also, Punisher is on Showtime this week... I'm sure it'll quickly make it into your 18th spot.. ;)
And you forgot about Catwoman and Supergirl... They might also beat out the hulk.. ;)

If I can trust you to read my spawn comics in a dust free white room with cotton gloves, I'll fedex you the whole original Todd McFarlane series... ;)
Spawn was based off of Todds college roommate... (Al Franklin?) -- I tried that, but no one wanted my "Lactose Fighter" series.. Everyone said the string cheese outfit was "disturbing"...
