Stress testing

July 26, 2006 @ 11:46pm

I am looking for a good web app stress testing service for my blogging platform Blogsmith. I want something that will hammer it with real-world connections from the outside. Some of the links I've been sent are only for testing MySQL or Apache in isolation. That won't do things like detect a network bottleneck and network bottlenecks have been our enemy in recent months.

A search for web site stress testing services found tons of little apps and companies that can hammer my site with 1, 100 or even 1000 simulated sessions! 1000 sessions? Yawn.

Where is the "we can batter your site with tens of millions of connections for an hour this weekend -- loading CSS files, images, JavaScript and RSS feeds" service?

I've heard a rumor that AOL has something they use to test sites, so we might end up using something in-house, but I'd love to find someone who does what we need.
