In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room

November 27, 2006 @ 1:05am

We're doing our half family/half work Thanksgiving Florida trip, just like last year. It's the trip where Niki and the kids hit the theme parks while I work from a hotel room or work in-person with my mostly Orlando dev team. This trip was a little different as I spent the entire weekend offline and at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios with my kids.

We spent last week at the Hard Rock Hotel and we're spending this week at Walt Disney World -- at the Polynesian Resort. As I have been explaining to my kids, "polynesian" is a Hawaii word meaning "many nesians", not to be confused with "micronesian", which means "small nesian".

Jason would be thrilled to know that there are "aloha" signs everywhere and even a couple of mahalo ones. Mahalo means both "good luck" and "a clearing in the forest where mothers hang out".

All of these things are constant nagging reminders that I need to get my Wikipedia login turned back on again so I can give something back to the community.
