The uninvited guest

December 18, 2006 @ 4:11am

I get a lot of email and I get a lot of spam. With all of the work-related lists and contact forms and mailing lists I see between six and seven thousand pieces of mail a day. Fortunately I filter a lot of that out so my BlackBerry only sees about a thousand of them, but it's still riddled with spam.

A few weeks ago, I felt the load of spam kick into a higher gear. The New York Times picked up on it too and reported that "unsolicited junk mail now accounts for more than 9 of every 10 e-mail messages sent over the Internet."

Laurie from TUAW suggested running my email through gmail first to weed out the bad stuff and then have it forward to my BlackBerry. It's a great idea, but it reminds me that I have a relatively unknown spam fighting service that I'm going to try out first. I'll let you know how that works for me.

'Cause I'm the one who knows what scares you.
I'm the one who loves you best.
I'm the thirteenth at the table.
I'm the uninvited guest.

I'm the Banquo at your banquet.
I'm the cuckoo in your nest.
I'm your fifteen stone first-footer.
I'm the uninvited guest.
