Elton John is reported to have said that the
Internet should be shut down because it's "destroying good music" and stopping people from "being with each other, creating stuff."
Among his other quotes:
"Let's get out in the streets and march and protest instead of sitting at home and blogging."
"I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut down the whole internet for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span."
"Levon sells cartoon balloons in town."
That last quote might be a little older than the first two, but I think you see where his head is at.
Why don't we have a Blogger Anti-Defamation Association?
Elton, show a little compassion! Don't you see that we all use
keyboards for a living? We're not that different. And I sing while I work, too. That's why I work in our basement.
PS -- If we do start a Blogger Anti-Defamation Association, I would insist that we abbreviate it as "BADAss".

Does that mean we can make "Sweet Sweetback's BADAss Song Part 2: Electric Boogaloo" ?
(I took out a few s'es to avoid litigation)

Elton -- surprise, surprise -- doesn't get it. The Internet is the most effective political organizing tool since Richard Nixon.
