June of 2004 started with the Autoblog going into production and ended with the delivery of Blogging Baby.
In between those, I defended our single table usage in our old fluid layouts. Those layouts and that table are long gone.
I announced that I wasn't doing any more Blogstakes contests -- that anyone interested would have to just advertise on Weblogs, Inc. This turned out to be a really good thing for Woot. Instead of doing a Blogstakes contest, they bought into the ad slice at the top of Engadget and were a great advertiser/partner. Woot wasn't just someone with money. They had a fantastic, addictive site and our growing gadget blog helped them get the word out. Today, they're a big deal.
Then I jokingly lamented that Blue's Clues was a disappointment:
I was expecting a CBS-style drama - like CSI or Without a Trace - starring guitar heroes like B.B. King and Eric Clapton. It turns out the show is about a cartoon dog and a goofy live action guy who solve puzzles with a notebook and a pencil.
Today the original star of Blue's Clues, Steve Burns, is a guitar-slinging musician. We're getting closer!
